GeneralCan I put my name on a list for class without enrolling? In order to ensure that all students have equal access to classes, and to avoid waiting lists, we are able to save class spaces only for students who have formally enrolled. To make this more convenient for students and employers, we make a strong effort to schedule adequate class sessions to meet demand, and accept a number of payment options, including credit cards. Can I pay when I show up for class? In order to accurately gauge the class sizes and ensure access to all students, we require advance enrollment. Why do Individual Providers (IP’s) have a different schedule than others? There are differences in the class times to accommodate Independent Providers receiving training and support in certain key areas, comparable to that given to caregivers who are employed by agencies. IPs receive an initial 30-minute orientation regarding rights and benefits, and additional training time regarding techniques for performing caregiving tasks in ways that reduce the risk for injury on the job, similar to training routinely provided by agency employers. Are classes taught in other languages besides English and Russian? At the current time, Russian and English are the only two languages in which classes are taught. We strive to accommodate students of all languages, however, and welcome the presence of interpreters to assist students. We also have Fundamentals and IP Safety books available in some additional languages. Please ask the instructor for availability. If I take care of a family member without pay, do I have to pay for class? Absolutely not! We offer free training to any unpaid caregiver. Contact the Training Coordinator for details and approval at 425-212-4210. Can I enroll by telephone? If you are paying by credit card, check or money order, telephone enrollment is available: enrollment is not guaranteed until payment is received. For Independent Providers or other students whose training will be paid for using Training Forms, telephone enrollment is not available. Nurse Delegation Where do I test?
