One key to living with independence and dignity is the ability to participate in meaningful employment. For many individuals with disabilities, this basic need is difficult to meet without assistance. Community Trades and Careers is an employment program that provides that assistance. Since 1983 we have been matching productive workers with quality employers in Snohomish and North King Counties. Our experienced, professional staff provide training and ongoing support to meet the needs of participants and the employers who hire them.

Our goal is a successful employment experience for all concerned. Participants' needs and abilities are carefully matched to the needs of employers. We coordinate the involvement of co-workers and supervisors in the training and support of the participant. Job coaches provide support to both the worker and the employer. We assist participants in all phases of obtaining and keeping a job, including dress and grooming skills, travel training, and budgeting and money management skills.

Because our program is funded by state, federal, and private grants, there is no charge for these services to either participants or the businesses who hire them.

Supported employment is good for individuals, and it is good for business. Businesses receive prompt assistance with staffing needs, and qualified applicants are recruited and pre-screened by our professional staff. We provide on-going technical assistance and support to employers in working with our participants. Businesses which hire supported employees are often eligible for tax credits, and in many cases partial reimbursement of eligible employees' wages during the initial training period. CTC is committed to helping its participants remain valued, contributing members of the work force.
