For all of us, a major key to independence in our daily lives is the ability to travel freely to work, doctor appointments, shopping, and other activities. Most of us take for granted the skills required to use public transportation, but for many adults with developmental and other disabilities, these are new and confusing areas which may create a barrier to independence. Sunrise Services, in partnership with Community Transit, offers travel training to increase the independence, choices, and competency of adults with disabilities. Training is customized to meet individual needs. Presentations and group trainings are also available for senior centers and group homes to provide basic orientation to the fixed-route system.
